Frieda's Almond Cookies |
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 tbs milk
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp almond extract
- sliced almonds for decoration
Cream:
- cream butter and sugar until thoroughly blended. Add 1 egg, milk, and almond extract and mix until just homogenous.
In separate bowl:
- stir flour, cream of tartar, and baking soda. Slowly add to other mixer until well blended.
Divide:
- dough into two, approximately even discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. Roll out on floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut with circle cookie/biscuit cutter and place on cookie sheet with sliced almond lightly pressed into center.
Bake:
- at 350 for 13 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove to rack for cooling.
Makes:
- about 3 dozen cookies.
